SEVERE WEATHER POLICY- SCHOOL CLOSURE
SEVERE WEATHER - SCHOOL CLOSURE
It is sometimes necessary to close the school because of severe weather problems or other emergencies. School will only be closed as a last resort, and the times this actually happens are rare.
Before deciding upon closure the following considerations are made:-
- Are access roads safe?
- Are there on site hazards?
- Will there be enough staff to supervise?
- Can a reasonable temperature be maintained?
- Are the toilet facilities and water operational?
-
Below are some guidelines that I would urge you to follow:-
· Should it become necessary to close the school during the day then school will telephone parents.
· Please do not phone into school if you think school may be closing as this prevents us phoning you!!
· If we are unable to contact you then we will keep your child at school until the normal home time.
· If there are serious weather problems - floods, storms or snow, then Invicta Radio (96.1 VHF), Radio Kent (104.2 VHF) and CTR FM (105.6 FM) will broadcast warnings and school closures. They are in contact with schools throughout these times.
